Living in the state of Kentucky tends to sometimes warp a person’s tastes in music. However when that same person is also a geek…..well the end result can get pretty weird. Luckily I’ve found some music that is the end result of what happens when country collides with geek.
Songs for this episode are from The Funny Music Project and include:
“The Caulk Sucker” by Scott Rose
“Making Love Like a Geek” by Hot Waffles
“I’ve Seen Everything” by David Tanny
“Kentucky Fried Night” by Scott Rose
and closing out this twang fueled episode of The GeekSpin is none other than the fantastic Tom Smith with his song “Stony Peak”. Tom could also use some help from all of you listening to the show. He’s been laid up in the hospital recovering from an injury. As a full time musician this means he’s not bringing in any income while at the same time racking up some serious hospital bills. It’s getting to be the big movie season once again, and for the episode of The GeekSpin two all-time classic films get smashed together.!
What would you think would happen if the films “Grease” and “Star Wars” (the good one…NOT the crappy prequels) had a love child? Odds are you would get a wacky song like the one featured in this episode.
Yes I’m talking about “Grease Wars” by The Great Luke Ski. Enjoy!
Yes kiddies…Doctor Who is back on the airwaves (or BT Airways) and what better way to celebrate than to devote an entire show to the one doctor still making house calls!
Songs for this episode include:
“Rose” by Geoff Smith,
“It Takes Who” by The Great Luke Ski ,
“I Saved the Planet Earth” by Marc Gunn,
and “An Ecclesiastes For Rose” by Tom Smith.
Yeah…..I finally got around to making a promo for the show! Better late than never right? Anyhow if you are a fellow podcaster and/or fan of great geeky music and can help, please pass this promo along to others. Maybe they can get hooked and tell others about The GeekSpin too!
Thanks,
Brad
It is hard to believe sometimes just how fast time really does fly. Almost a year ago I was sitting in an IHOP in Clarksville Indiana when I got a phone call, that while I had know it was coming, it still hit me like a ton of bricks. A fellow podcaster had called to tell me that Joe Murphy (from Slice of SciFi and Kick-Ass Mystic Ninjas) had just passed away.
While I didn’t know Joe as well as others did, I still feel very honored to have been able to meet Joe at Dragon*Con in 2006, and get to hang out, swap stories, and share a drink or two.
I may not have the talent or words to create a tribute fitting for a guy like Joe, but I have gathered up a collection of songs that I know the big guy would have got a kick out of. So Joe….where ever you are….this one is for you bud.
